I’ve always been a science guy. I was never satisfied with simply taking something at face value. I needed to analyze it and experience it to fully understand what it was. My interest in the subject began at an early age. In high school, I volunteered at the Mystic Aquarium in Connecticut. I went on to study biology in college and worked in biotech for several years after that. But it was a visit to a piece of land my uncle owned in Northbridge that gave me the idea to merge my background in science with my interest in cannabis. The land was barren of much of anything and was being used as a gravel pit for mining sand. Long story short, several town halls later and an absurd amount of petitioning with my wife outside of supermarkets, granted me the ability to rezone the land for marijuana cultivation.
This facility represented the jumping off point for Eskar. And because of it, I now had the ability to open my own stores. But, I didn’t want “just another cannabis dispensary”. I had gone around to other dispensaries and I realized no one really cared what I knew or didn’t know. All they seemed to care about was that I paid for their product and got the hell out of their place. Needless to say, it wasn’t the customer experience I had hoped for. This really made me take a step back and evaluate what I wanted out of my own business. My goal for Eskar is to not only reimagine the cannabis shopping experience, but to always put the customer first.
